About This Course

Whether you want to learn about voiceover or hone your speaking skills, this four-week exploration will provide the building blocks for voicing commercials and more. You’ll learn what voiceover is, how physicality brings the words to life, what keywords to emphasize, and how to create characters! Then, you’ll explore voice over as a career, including how to prepare for voice over work, how to break in, and what recording equipment is necessary to succeed.

Voiceover artist and performer Juan Aguirre will be your instructor, with over 20 years’ experience doing voice over work with well-known companies such as STARZ Entertainment, Panasonic, AZ Lottery, Atlantis Resorts, Telemundo and more. Join alone or sign up with friends!

This course will meet over ZOOM on Saturdays from 2:00p-3:00p, starting on 9/19/20 and ending on 10/10/20.

Juan Aquirre

Juan made his professional debut in ’97 with Arizona Opera Company and since then has performed all over the world from Mexico to Budapest in both classical and popular music genres, as well as acting.

A regular on Arizona concert/theatre stages he has recorded two CDs and sings regularly with The Presidio Boys (country/gospel) and The 4Gents (Doo-wop). In musical theatre he has performed a plethora of roles such as Javert in Les Miserables, Caiphas in Jesus Christ Superstar, and Capt. Von Trapp in The Sound of Music.

Juan can be seen and heard on national t.v and radio as a bilingual actor and voice over artist (www.juanaguirre.voice123.com).

When not performing or doing voice over work, Juan teaches private voice, enjoys stage directing and works as an opera teaching artist with TUSD’s award winning Opening Minds through the Arts program.
