About This Course

Course Objective: To experience the process of Costume Designing a show, from reading and analyzing the script, to coming up with ideas, to planning and executing those decisions. As in the real world, there may be a few curve balls and challenges along the way. Students will finish having experienced the process of designing a show, with a complete package of presentations and paperwork from which a show can be executed. Students will analyze and design the intriguing play The Winter’s Tale by William Shakespeare.

MEGAN WIESE, Costume Designer

Since learning the art of sewing as a child, Megan has used her incredible talent off the stage – costume designing over 25 productions around Tucson. With an eye for detail, Megan takes great pride in researching historically accurate clothing in order to make authentic costumes, and then incorporating her artistic flare. She has won numerous awards through her blossoming career – most notably the annual Arizona State & National Make it With Wool Competitions, with which she has won six titles. She won the National Needlework Award three years, and placed second two others! She is currently attending the University of Arizona, studying Theatrical Design with an emphasis in Costume Design.
